NITI Aayog plans to invest in establishing EV Infrastructure

NITI Aayog, Indian government’s think-tank has said that the Ministry of Heavy Industry will offer incentives for electric vehicle infrastructure. The government has also said that the EV industry is required invest in building 50GWh to 60GWh of battery capacity by 2025. NITI Aayog has alaso planned to set up EV charging stations at 60K state-run petrol pumps. The government also believes that an alternative approach is necessary in order to reduce dependency on lithium-ion battery.

Apart from this, India’s industry association Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has also urged to include battery swapping model of charging under the central government’s FAME II scheme, which was introduced in March 2019 with an investment of USD1.4bn over the next three years.
